First of many
I haven't yet decided how I want to use this blog - personal updates, cookbook, new science facts, or just a sounding board - but it will probably turn into some combination of the above.
Just to get the ball rolling, here's a taste of some things to be included in the future:
Enjoy!

Congratulations on your new blog! I look forward to reading it in the future. For now you are of to a great start with a nice cartoon about an important issue!
Fortunately religious politicians is still not a big problem here in Denmark but then again we have a bunch of politicians that seem to think global warming is something weird looking scientists have come up with in their ivory towers just to have something to complain about...
Good luck with your blog:)
Cheers,
Franke
We seem to have the opposite problem here, where global warming is more widely accepted than evolution...can we not have our melting polar icecap cake and eat it with our sometimes amelogenin-deficient teeth too?
Interesting coincidence, this blog starts on my birthday and a fine present it is. Only 600 years, a brief instant in evolutionary time, separate us from the Dark Ages and Copernicus who heralded the dawn of the Age of Enlightenment. I am not surprised that Copernicus also coincided with a 25% die-off of the European population due to the plague. Evolution seems to accelerate during a die-off.
There is and will always be a battle between those who choose belief over empiricism. Failing by all objective criteria, the 'faith based' thinkers try to declare empiricism to be just a different 'faith.' Utter nonsense but evolution is a fair if harsh judge even though it often acts slower than our individual lives.
Thanks and good luck in your studies,
Bob Wilson
