Website design!

I am volunteering as the webmaster for the Graduate Women in Science, and am very proud to announce that as of this morning the new website is active! Check it out:

www.gwis.org

Of course it is, like all things on the internet, a work in progress. Soon I'll be soliciting information from the local chapters for updates and suggestions for content, so continue to check back in, especially for the updates to the resources pages.

OH MY GOD, it's AMAZING! It looks like a real website!

Off the cuff suggestions - would you like someone to do any image editing for you? I am thinking specifically of fixing the GWIS logo to make it transparent (see the top bar on my blog, which is also transparent). Also, it's kind of funny how the menus (Home, National Fellowships Program, etc) are in two rows depending on screen size- is it possible to have them so that they are in one row?

Other comment - I think we REALLY need a twitter handle at some point, but @gwis is taken already! Plus we need to convince everyone.

Lol, thank you!

Yes, I am happy for any and all help.

If you'd like, I can give you access (it built in WordPress), so you can edit directly.

Otherwise, I am more than happy to make the changes you suggest.

Yes, a transparent logo would be fantastic.

Regarding the menu tabs, as far as I can tell, all are on the top row except for "Governance, News, FAQs and Contact" which are always on the second level. The difference is that if the window is too small, then all the menus turn into pull-down.

I think if someone volunteered for the twitter account, it would be welcomed.

The layout looks clean and pro. I think the Website Design looks way better now especially the main page. The details are very clear and everyone will be able to go around easily. I think that is very important.

I like the look of the new website. It exudes professionalism yet it's easy to navigate around and the color and appearance is easy on the eyes. Nice work!
